Formed in April 1990 by Mamoru Yoshii, The Parrots began performing on stages in Tokyo clubs, quickly gaining a reputation for themselves.

Attracting media attention, their fame transcended borders, and even the BBC in Great Britain granted them an interview. This culminated in August 1994 when they became the first Asian band to play at the world-famous Beatles Convention in Liverpool. The Parrots left such a lasting impression that they were officially invited back in 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001 and 2004. Beatles fans from around the world adored them!

In April 2001, they eagerly debuted their CD from Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc., titled "Please Please Me / The Parrots Live at Abbey Road" (SRCL 5053).

They opened for "Arctic Monkeys" at Lancashire County Cricket Ground in Manchester, Britain in 2007.

In November 2008, they released their second CD on their own label (Prrophone), titled "Around The Parrots" (PACP-5054).

On November 20, 2013, Paul McCartney organized The Parrots to perform at a surprise 54th birthday party for his wife, Nancy Shevell, in Tokyo. He even joined the band on stage to perform 'I Saw Her Standing There'! This event became international news after he posted about it on his official website.

On January 17, 2017, The Parrots participated in a farewell reception hosted by the U.S. ambassador to Japan, Caroline Kennedy, at her residence in Tokyo.

Tragically, Mr. Mamoru Yoshii, aka Chappy Yoshii, the leader of 'The Parrots,' passed away suddenly on September 12, 2017. His death was covered not only by many Japanese media outlets but also by overseas media and social networking services. Condolence comments poured in from Paul's band member, 'Brian Ray,' and other renowned musicians.

In March 2018, The Parrots made a special appearance at a private Tokyo party with Paul's second daughter, Stella McCartney.

In February 2023, they performed at a banquet for President Marcos of the Philippines during his visit to Japan.
